Getting to Penpoll

By Train

The nearest main railway station is at Bodmin Parkway (25 minutes away).

The nearest local station is Losthwithiel, (less than 15 minutes) but some fast trains do not stop here.

By Air

Flights to/from Newquay Airport, where car hire is available.

By Car

Penpoll is about 4.5 hours from London, the best route being via Plymouth on A38.

We recommend that you have use of a car to fully enjoy your stay at Penpoll.

However, we can suggest local taxi firms should you require them.

On Arrival

The house is usually ready from 4pm on Friday and the week’s let runs to 10.30am the following Friday. We are happy to send you a welcome arrival text to let you know when the house is ready for you, which can be particularly helpful after a long journey; if we are ahead of schedule it means you can get settled earlier!

Facilities

Central heating, electricity and high quality linen and bath towels are included, but we ask you to bring your own beach towels and bedding for the travel cot.

An initial supply of kindling and firewood will be at the house to get you started, but thereafter supplies are available at the wonderful Lerryn River Stores, or some local garages.

There is now good mobile signal at the house, however the house phone is available to use, should you need it.

Parking

There is space for two cars immediately outside the house, plus additional off-road parking for a further car and/or small dinghy trailer.

Boats

For families with boats, small dinghies and kayaks can be launched at high tide from the private orchard. To launch either bigger boats, or ensure water access at all tidal stages, Penpoll’s proximity to Penmarlam Boatyard & Moorings – less than a 5 minute drive away – is a huge bonus.

We are very happy to give further details, so please contact us if you would like more information or see the Fowey Harbour website.

Dog Policy

With miles of countryside to roam and a creek on the doorstep, Penpoll is dog walking paradise!

However, it is really important to note that Penpoll is situated in the middle of a farming community and dogs MUST be strictly controlled.

We cannot take responsibility for farmer’s actions if dogs are allowed to wander.

We reserve the right to say no to dogs staying, especially at peak lambing and calving times.

Water + mud + dogs = a risky recipe for inside the house! We have a dog friendly utility room and kitchen, but ask that dogs are not allowed into the main areas of the house, and most definitely not on the furniture.

We have a medium sized dog crate available on request, but owners may prefer to bring their own.

Up to two small to medium, mature dogs (not puppies) are welcome, following discussion with Penpoll’s owners. Dogs are strictly not allowed on the furniture or to be left unattended in the house.

An extra pet charge of £40 is applicable for each booking, plus £20 for an additional dog.
